The minimal above-waterline profile reduces wind-driven leeway to 2.7% in seawater, reduced further to 1.5% with the optional parachute drogue. The subsurface fins lock the Voyager to the surface current, ensuring the buoy tracks the water mass rather than the wind. Historical tracks are retained and exportable in GIS-compatible formats, making post-deployment analysis and regulatory reporting straightforward.
Accuracy
Voyager's design is the result of years of engineering refinement focused on a single goal: ensuring the buoy tracks the surface water mass, not the wind. Subsurface fins provide strong coupling with the surface current, while the minimal freeboard reduces wind-driven leeway. In seawater alone, Voyager achieves a leeway multiplier of just 2.7%; fitted with a parachute in seawater, this drops further to 1.5%.
